Sneak peak of the library - 1 month in the making since ordering those stupid shelves; we're waiting on the final replacement - should be here next week!

Hang Ups

We finally got the last painting (for the upstairs, anyway) hung!  Our bedroom is officially complete!

Here is the entrance...it's on the back of the house overlooking the green space and a lovely view of the mountains:
To the right is the bed along with our old art work.  New sheets though!  Very exciting.
To the left, the dresser and a painting Mike bought me which I SO love.  It's huge, almost as tall as I am, probably too big for the room.  But I lay in bed and stare at it like it's going out of style.  Just love it.
To the left of that, our bathroom.  A little bit of a weird layout - although Mike says it was common in New Mexico.  So maybe it's just strange for Texas!  But we're getting used to it, and the window makes for a quasi-outdoor shower with the eastern sun in the morning:
And finally, to the right of the bed.  I seriously need (want?) a couple throw pillows.  But these are pretty difficult colors to coordinate, so I've discovered.  Any ideas?

One Man's Trash

I decided to run in the park behind our old apartment building during my second week of attempting to become a runner.  It was quite muddy, but there were kids playing on the swings and I passed another runner on the grassy trail so it seemed a quaint yet quiet respite from my normal lap around the street.

When I got to the gate that has since we've moved here been wide open to eternity: it was locked.  If I needed proof that I have yet to reach "fat" proportions, when I slipped under the gate through the hole between the wet ground and the metal would have been it.  My butt didn't even get dirty, I'm that good at getting around fences.  What that says about me, I have yet to determine, but I think it's a talent I've not put to full use (Mom, next Comanche trip, let's break into an abandoned house.  Seriously).

When I passed the dumpster I noticed a hutch.  Certainly there had to be something wrong with it.  I opened all the drawers (my run was over a this point), inspected the sides, even smelled it (yes, smelled it).  Nothing.  Nada.  Zip.  So I carried it, sweating, home.

Turns out it's the exact (and let me mention, not normal) proportions I needed for a storage container to fit between the tub and the cabinet in my bathroom.  I freaking LOVE it when things work out this way!

My Sentiments Exactly

I had to send my work laptop back for another round of repairs; this strip from Dog Eat Doug seemed appropriate for the day I got it back.

Bliss

We always stop at Hico, TX at one of my favorite littls stops while we're visiting Comanche.  This time, after an amazing down-home meal, we had lavender chocolates and peanut butter bars from the chocolate shop also on the premises of Bliss.  So perf.

Around the World in 80 Days

One of my dealers has an AWESOME facebook page whereon their name plate goes all over the country - and in some cases world - and is photographed.  So, on my amazing trip back to Texas, we decided to show a little love to Sill-TerHar, Texas style!  This begins will the Silsa...

Stuff & Things

I spent this morning organizing the basement which, I have to say, was not that fun.  We threw things down there we didn't really know what to do with, so by the time I moved many of my childhood valuables into those beige bins, organized everything into sections (boxes of boxes, electronic boxes, Christmas, and keepsakes - I keep a lot), I was exhausted and my back was killing me.
As I sat down to empty out the last box of toys, I discovered my Polly Pockets.  Any of you my age might remember these awesome little pods of joy complete with 2-3 movable characters, and an environment for said characters that would fit - oddly enough - in your pocket.

I had to play with them.

I opened each one, admiring their in-tactness, remembering how much I loved the ones that had beds for them to sleep on, complete little dwellings for dolls now about the size of my fingernail.  The coup de grace was the Starlight Castle, which used to light up when equipped with batteries (not included).

I remembered the prince and the horse, the moveable swan and the plastic crocket set-up you couldn't actually play.  And I remembered the secret door with the knight's armor...

I didn't remember this:

So I opened this little note, written in elementary school, on which an inventory of each little Polly Pocket doll and pet, their names, and which Pocket they went to.  Even at 12 I was anal as could be.

What was great though, was the name of the Prince in the Starlight Castle.  Despite knowing what crushes both names signified, having crossed out "Daniel" and changing it to "Michael", I can't help but wonder if the fate of my life couldn't be described in a note from my childhood, hidden in a plastic fad toy, found years later by complete accident.

It could happen.

Being as biz as I've been today, I decided to paint the roof of the mailbox.  I had repaired the broken wood slat earlier that morning with Gorilla glue, which was now incredibly white against the fading black roof.  So since I had to go to Lowe's anyway, I thought, "What the heck."

I think it was worth it.  Don't you?

Cool It

What do you think about this amazing metal cooler?  I found it today at TJMaxx and I thought it would be so perf for the porch and outdoor parties!  Love it!

A continued  break from the house photos...for some reason the trees leading up to the entrance of TCH are now festooned with blue sparkling ribbon.  They glimmered in the sunlight as I enjoyed my coffee gelato (a-ma-zing) on the cafeteria patio before my shift.

What I couldn't take a photo of was when I left: they glowed and sparkled cobalt blue at 9 pm.  I love surprises.

St. Vrain

Oddly enough, that's also the name of Mike's soccer club.  A beautiful little church on mainstreet in Longmont.  I tried to get married there - it's an art gallery now though, they don't do that sort of thing...

Turned out well.

La Toilette

Not a lot of change from the last one - except for the lovely little window in the shower!  Since it's on the east side of the house when the sun comes up, it fills with so much sunlight in the morning that it is this close to an outdoor shower!  I replaced the showerhead, and Mike hung my very chic towel rack (Target loves the Claytons).  I think I'll paint the cabinets...eventually. :-)  We really loved the colors the previous owners painted all the rooms, including the ceilings in a lot of cases.  We love this house.  For seriousry.

Blue Willow

Second completed room: the dining area/kitchen.  We tried to de-clutter the counters, especially with the sleek black and chrome look.  I think we've done well!

The fridge has a water/ice dispenser.  I can't tell you how adult this makes me feel!  Hahahahahaha!

The postcards were some of the first memoirs of my trips throughout Colorado.  And the sunflower theme with the painting from Repper (from Europe no less!) and the small one I found at the last art sale in town makes me happy.

This is the view from the 2nd-ish story looking down (I love how the sunlight filters through the cobalt glass - our backyard gets almost constant sun!):

I also was about to pitch a couple of square vases from a Medallion Elite banquet a loooong time ago.  Instead, I used them to give some height to my only china collection: Franz Porcelain.  I love these pieces.  And would buy more if they were so expensive.  I broke a spoon (first casualty of 4 moves) while putting them away.  It shatter when it hit the floor.  I thought I would've cried, but I didn't.  That's what eBay's for!
