The Levi Universe Smiles Upon Me

I took the second-to-last step of becoming fully Coloradoan (we started recycling last month, I buy everything thrift, I'm greener than the knees of a 3 year old in newly mowed grass) by joining a yoga studio down the street from our house.  That is an expensive little proposition of you start to really get into it.

So instead of dropping $30 on a yoga mat bag for ease of transport, I decided to make one with nothing but what I had on hand.  I found these instructions online, gathered the necessary items, and went to town.  Even with the screw up on trying to make the bottom way to epically complicated, I have to say this is a huge reward for a relatively small amount of a Saturday afternoon.
The jeans were from a 99 cent pile at Goodwiil.  I had the belt turned strap from college in a box to be used for "something".  And the tie at the top was off a whole spool I had for another project.
The bottom has a little security pocket for lipgloss and driver's license.  Probably most proud of that part.
It snaps.  Because I'm awesome. :-D
This will be so handy!

Shedding Skin

Mike got on a wild hair this weekend and cleaned out our shed.  Since we moved into our house over 2 years ago, there have been several items sitting in there taking up space and frankly not even being acknowledged.
Look at all that space!
Future site of camping gear storage...
We posted a bunch of things on Freecycle, including a concrete table that weighed a TON, random wood pieces, a box of nails, bags of sand, and some random wooden stairs.
It was all gone within 24 hours.  I love Colorado.

All-You-Can Eat Sushi

Sounds disgusting doesn't it?  We all had very low expectations when Dani and Gary brought us to Sushi Katsu for an unlimited Sushi night, and were even less confident when it looked as though we'd lapsed into the Barrio while trying to get to the place.

We could not have had a better time, or better face-stuffing for $23.99.
This place is brilliant.  All-You-Can-Eat ANYTHING.  The only catch is if you don't finish it, you pay full price.  That keeps you from being too stupid....
We were incredibly over-dressed and after about 60 seconds of discomfort due to being both a minority in dress and skin-color, we were having the time of our lives.
I was about to fall over in those heels...
Appreciate the shoes.  APPRECIATE!
We ended the evening at Yogurt City in Cherry Creek.  Epic Saturday.
I love a man in a hat.

Locomotion

When I was being treated for Hodgkins Disease at Cook Childrens Medical Center, (in a building that is strangely no longer there) we spent a majority of the daily chemo administrations in the play room - a two-roomed area full of books, toys, bald-headed children, and their families.  There are two things that bring back that time so violently that it makes me almost physically ill: one is a combination of smells - a mix of hospital, humanity, and Heparin.  Usually an IV is required to bring that specific smell back into my life.  The second is the sound of model trains.

Some brilliant benefactor thought it would be a great idea to build a tiny train track that moved throughout both rooms (so you could never get away from the noise) that would toot its horn all. the. time.  All the time.  I hated that thing so much.  It would wobble on it's tracks built into the wall just below the ceiling, making it's loop through both play rooms and tooting that infuriating toot, scratching its way on old toy wheels into your subconscious.

When I walked in to the hospital for my shift tonight and saw this thing, it was the first time in my almost three years of volunteering there that my gag reflex had to be controlled.  Leave the trains to BNSF and the cross-country tracks.  There's no place for something not to be touched (nor something so obnoxious) in a children's hospital.

My Favorite Meal

Let's be honest, there was a lot of food involved in this trip, all of it awesome.  But Dustin's tuna steaks complete with grilled spuds, buttery green beans, and Nar's spicy dressing on great-tasting salads was my absolute fav.

Also, the view didn't hurt.

Fire Starter

My first day visiting Nar & Du!  Having not seen them in almost a year and a half (ridiculousness) it was a very company-intensive weekend...

I saw Du's station at West U (wow, what a gorgeous little area):
Next, a quick stop in Rice Village for a Half Price Books run and a stop at the Chocolate Bar.  Best. Brownie. EVER.
And finally, Hermann Park.  Such a special place in my heart.  And now the Japanese Garden is free! :-)
El Tiempo Cantina.  It'll change your life.
And finally, my sister actually asked me to help her with lesson-planning.  I Crayola with the best of them:
