Hi. I'm Mat.
My first attempt at a little more complicated sewing project. Yes, I know it looks a little bit like a kid did this. No, I don't care. Besides, when you're not photographing it, it looks so much better!
I took two place mats I already had, sewed them together to get the correct length for his bowls. Then I used some of the leftover curtain (you'll recognize from the porch cushion covers), cut out the letters of his name, and tried valiantly to make it look decent. This is harder than it sounds. But I'm still happy with the way it turned out.
At least now the place mats are sewn together and won't turn into a bunched-up wad every time he lays down to eat!

Mini Wine & Cheese Platter
We had leftover cheese and accouterment for our Friday night biz. The perf amount to try out the mini serving platter I made. It's the original's baby sister.

Firethorn
I know most people reading this have probably never been to my Arlington home, but I just had to share photos of what it looks like now! So inspired.
Don't ask me how I didn't get a photo of the ACTUAL room I stayed in. Sheesh.

Too Soon
My parents have done some amazing things with my childhood home. And while it looks nothing like it did when I lived there (how many years ago now?) I absolutely love what they've done with the place! My mom changed up the guest room, which is now the Bluebird Room (formerly Craft Biz Room). But she left the much-loved Scrabble piece jar she has accumulated. So, following my sister and her husband, I left a note on my way out.
It's sort of an inside joke. :-) The best kind, really.

POINT!
My parents have a pet squirrel. My mom will put nuts on the ledge, and while the bricks are in the cool shade (most of the day until late afternoon), Mr. Squirrel will enjoy his nuts and the prostrate himself on the ledge. This is seriously a daily occurrence. Fortunately, they can tell which squirrel is Mr. Squirrel, as he has a small chunk of ear missing. Cutest thing.

Thrifty Nickle
Saturday we explored the finer points of downtown Grapevine, followed by a very necessary visit to Kincaid's. Love their burger patties, just love them
To this day, my dad still gets mail addressed to "Furt Wetterling". How anyone could think Furt is a real name is beyond me. That memory was restored with the misspelling of his name on his order bag. It also resulted in a fair amount of laughter.Friday, July 22, 2011
Knox Street
Quick trip to Texas for my Dad's birthday! We spent Friday on Knox street, including lunch at the amazing Chuy's (addicting decor as well as food).
Next was perusing all the shops along the street - mainly for the comfy furniture.
I laughed so hard it echoed!

Next Generation
I just discovered Netflix has Startrek: Next Generation on streaming video. It's more cheesy than I remember, but let's face it: once a Trekie, always a Trekie.

Wine & Cheese Night!
Mike gathered the necessary accouterment for our very own wine & cheese set-up just to try out our new tiered serving platter! He even baked bread! It was a veritable feast of flavors and cheesy goodness! Al on a hand-made platter. It's a good thing.
