Samples
Painting the house turns out to be a lot more stressful than I thought it would be. Fortunately, we have a shed.

Just Need the Finishing Touches
Buttons anyone? How proud am I of this? Pretty stinkin' proud. Especially since I don't know how to sew.
I think I enjoyed the embroidery the most! That is incredibly relaxing.
Used a belt to strengthen the top and keep it more stiff.
And cut up an old shirt from the thrift store for decoration...
Finally a couple old embroidered towels from my mom, and a butterfly that had been on one of my favorite shirts from my Gran, but was unwearable due to a hole that developed. I cut it out of the shirt and hand-sewed it on the back. I've had that thing for years. This is why I keep crazy things! You just never know...

Two years ago as Mike & I were driving back from downtown, our first day as a married couple, we thought: "Let's play mini-golf!"
Fast forward...we tried out a new place, but stuck to our old habits. It reminded me of Lincoln, NE trips, and getting married on a sunny day in March before a blizzard hit. And it made me beam

2 Years
Mike & I have been married for 2 years today! And as celebration in preparation for our night downtown Friday, Mike brought home the most beautiful bouquet of surprise gerber daisies I've ever seen! They burst in our living room, and make Kona want to be a part of it, too.
Love.
Love.

Overcoming Fear
So, little Clayton family secret. I've been having some pretty bad abdominal pain, with no explanation. No relation to food, definitely not expecting, couldn't figure out what was going on. So the doc sent me for an ultrasound.
I was fairly nervous, having had one before, but not really knowing what the issue could be now. Mike came with me as moral support, and, being the responsible adults we are, we were thirty minuts early to the hospital.
Good thing there was a park nearby, and I have a husband who finds pleasure in the little things almost as much as I do...
As it turned out, there was nothing to worry about. But because of this, and him, I stopped worrying today.

This week's thrift store finds
Alright. I might have a problem.
But the stories continue!
Found this mug all by its lonesome, and it totally matches a tea set and cup/saucer/spoon montage I've had since high school from Cracker Barrel. Having now Googled it, I see I am so incredibly far from owning the entire set. Wow. Napkin rings and placements, too!
Anyway, found this but searched high and low and came up short on companions. But I had to have it. It was 50 cents anyway.
I am a clothes horse. Best find was probably the never-been-worn silk Banana Republic top. Lovely. But some fun summer tops, a couple jackets from J. Crew, Mossimo vest...
And summer tanks for layering!
Coolest. Scarf. Ever. Pretty much just bought it to copy.
Now...onto a new project...Blue Jean Bag made entirely of thrift store recycled gear:
This will be a new effort in the use of my mom's old sewing machine. I bought some silk tie belts from J.Crew and Old Navy for straps...along with belts to secur the tops.
Finally, some new little bags for inside - because it's the little things that get lost! They coordinate. And the red one is a going-out purse that still had the tags from J.Crew. Love it.
More photos to come when (if) a bag is complete!
