In a little place called Assssssssssssspen

Our amazing friend Deb took us up to Devil's Head trail and took some absolutely stunning photos of our little family!  I am so happy with how they turned out!  All photos courtesy of Debra Dean Photography.

Tick Tock

Before he passed away, my great uncle R.L. used to make clocks.  Literally built them piece-by-piece from the base up.  He made quite a few of them, but only made 3 of this one.  One is in my parents house.  Another is in my grandparent's house.  And now, this one is in mine.  The library in particular.  My grandparents brought it with them while traveling to Aspen.  It's our newest addition to the library!

Everything changes the colours we see

Ayers Natural Bridge: another stop on the game of Oregon Trail (and a hidden gem 5 miles off of I-25).

Next time I decide to take the "Mini-trail" I will not wear my flip flops...

I have stood on Ayers Natural Bridge.  I am Awesome-O.

Casper High School.  You have got to be kidding me.  I can promise you none of those kids appreciate this building as it should be appreciated.

Persistance

It has been the month of bachelor parties as many of Mike's friends commit themselves to marriage; and beforehand commit really stupid things on nights full of mischief and drunken bad ideas.  It fascinates me to hear about these evenings - but on this last one, I completely forgot about my phone, enjoying a glass of Menage and watching Netflix movies on demand.  It was about 1:30 am when I told Kona he should've told me it was so late, and I got ready for bed.  I then remembered my phone, only to find 20 texts from Mike, the last of which were a hazy desperation for me to answer back!

Needless to say, I felt awful.  Especially when I discovered that he had purchased a rose for me at one of the bars, and had subsequently gone on protecting it all night.  Trust me, it was a feat.  So here it is, having perked up from water (and reassurance that it's owner was not at all angry and punishing Mike for going out with his friends, she had simply lost track of time and her phone), beautiful as when he bought it.

Maybe more so.

This week's thrift store find

Lots of clothing, amazingly enough, which is not something I usually look for.

Possible Halloween costume...
Absolutely adorable vintage dress for work purposes.  I even have the perfect shoes.  It'll be beautiful for fall!
Amazing Ann Taylor Loft suit that is just beautiful.  Still had the tags - it was priced at $17.99, but blue tags were half off today.  It's a size 0 - I never thought I'd wear that again!
A slew of $1 stuffed animals for destroying by Kona the Barbarian.  He's already unstuffed 2, and it's only been a few hours.  Good times.
Finally, these lights that used to hang on my porch, but unfortunately our current set up is not conducive for them.  So I found this container at Goodwill and turned them into a living room light fixture!

Disappearing Feet

This is the first time I've ever looked down at my feet and not been able to tell where my shoes stop and the floor starts!

Before & After

If you'll also recall the lamp...

The mirror matches the chalkboard yellow - unfortunately it's so heavy I have yet to hang it.   Needies the Mike...Anywho!  Spraypainted the lamp and covered the cheap shade that came with it with material I finally found at the Hob Lob!  I used chalkboard paint on the painting of the mountains to the left, which worked splendidly.  Another can of paint for the frame and BAM!  Custom black board at your service.  Sweet.  The frames are from Goodwill, too.  Loves me some recycled home goods.

Not quite done with the long framed photo - but you'll see it soon!

Wedding Weekend

We went to Fort Collins for Katie & Phil's wedding this afternoon - then stayed to dance the evening away!
Love this candid shot - Phil helping Katie with her dress...
Shuffle board waiting for the reception!
And some pool after the shuffle board whooping.
And the person I love talking to the most...even in the middle of a noisy dance floor or on a busy packed street or a long car ride.  Pretty much anywhere, is what I'm trying to say. :-)

Dood

Sometimes, I'm amazed at what used to be ok.  Which makes me wonder: what will I be amazed at what is ok now 30 years from now?

I love this photo!

A block party in Highlands Ranch allowed me to catch up with one of my favorite young people: Sydney Dean!  I'm pretty sure she's ruined me to any other kid - as talking to her is so easy, fun, and feels like a peer!  I don't know how to talk to kids; but Syd is a friend!  And Kona now loves her too.  I'm so happy 7th grade is going so well for her, which makes me so happy.  I can't wait to see her grow through school and life.

Flash Flood

My mom sent me this photo courtesy of WFAA news:
That purple PT you see just under the pointing hand?  Yeah.  That's hers.

Apparently it rained so hard in such a short time that a flash flood occured at my high school, where BOTH parents now work.  I think Sven is ok.  But Plumeria...not so much.
