Details, Details
The view of the open space behind our house...it will be gorgeous in the spring!
Back porch!
View from the bedrooms upstairs:
Living room...which will eventually be a library, with a picture window on the cul de sac (love the wood floors):
Dining room and kitchen, which are next to the railings and stairs that lead to the entertainment center...
Tada! Those cabinets on either side of the fire place open up and the doors slide back - so our ENTIRE DVD/CD/gaming collection can be stored in ONE place! And a way to hide the wires. My obsessive-compulsive self is salivating!
And finally....the view from the window in the dining room at sunset - technically mountain views (hehehehe). When it's warmer, the porch will be the place to be at 6 pm!

Peaberry's
I had one of the best cups of coffees I've had in a long time...a white chocolate mocha from the Gelato & Coffee cafe at The Children's Hospital. Peaberry's is a local coffee shop I've never tried before. I'm hooked! But what was even better was when I sat watching the sky turn dark before my shift in the gift shop, staring at the photographs of leaves on the floor, enjoying my coffee, and actually feeling relaxed. It was in this happy mood that I read my what my coffee cup said:
"Drink Colorado: it really pisses off Seattle."
I believe I will!

Here's How It Went Down
Mike and I followed Joe, our realtor, to the third house we were looking at on a whirlwind tour this morning. As we pull up, I stare at the backyard of the house cady-corner to the one we're there to see.
"Mike."
"Kendra?"
"Is that a TeePee?"
". . ."
". . ."
"Yep."
"Huh."
"Yeah."
"I need a picture of that."
No TeePees.

On a separate note: while that wasn't the house of our dreams, the next one was. It backs to open space. No TeePees.

Rest Stop
I-25 splits and heads west towards Casper in the middle of Wyoming. Without fail, I stop for a walk/potty break, depending on how much coffee I've had on the way up. Habits are comforting...even if they include watching the guy taking out the trash digging through it and taking what I just cleaned out of my car...
I thought about taking a picture. I thought better of it...

Oil & Vineger
Aricia and Tim saved me from my last night alone pre-Mike returning from Florida. We ate at a lovely restaurant on Pearl Street, and then watched a horror movie. Not the best idea when sleeping alone...but I had the best time!
I am also, apparently, completely loved by Tim's cat: Diablo. I am not a cat person. This concerns me.

It made me get wet eyes
Again, from Stephanie...what a great way to end the week!
You know my extreme love for buttons, KClay.
It’s even one of my (albeit lightly used) nicknames.
Buttons.
Walking down the streets of Denver, looking down at this beautiful button bouquet that you’d commissioned for your wedding… looking up at you walking with your dad… walking toward making a commitment to another person. So unafraid. So sure. So happy. So ready. We caught the trolley, remember? Of course you do J Everyone was staring at you… and smiling
I was so honored to stand next to you both as a witness and forever support as you married your choice. So honored. On the plane ride to CO, I wrote in my journal the different life lessons I’d learned with you.
From going through a funk regarding church to forming new opinions only to learn that I’m my opinions need to remain soft… my commitment to the Word and what it says, strong.
I became more of who I am today with you than most of the other people in my life.
And that’s what this picture says.
It says life is meant to be celebrated.
Celebrate everything as God’s people. Find beauty… because it’s everywhereUndone by Lifehouse

Red & White Stripes
By today, my week had gotten exponentially better. With wholesale behind me, a day of catch-up work at home, and an evening back at my post as Gift Shop Girl, life was almost back to normal.
When I signed out of the hospital, there was a basket of candy canes next to the log book. Amazingly enough, I'd been eating incredibly healthy, and while hungry, I forwent the Girl Scout cookies that beckoned me. But I couldn't pass up the candy cane opportunity. I haven't had one in years! While I enjoyed it's cool, refreshing stickiness, I remembered Christmas in Comanche, thought back to college, then high school, then long before that, and was lost in the memories only brought on by certain tastes and certain smells as I drove my MKZ home.
Steal the Sheets
In Mike's absence, Jean and Charles are doing just that...

Mrs. Gibson
My mom sent me a photo of my sister, now married to Du - great, great guy. I'm so happy for them and their new life! Once Karley finishes student teaching, they will be moving closer to Houston (from DFW) where Dustin has an amazing job as a fire fighter for University Heights. So proud of them both!

Light-headed
This photograph and story are courtesy of my lovely friend Stephanie - from her amazing trip to Peru!
Air really is thinner at 15,200 feet.Just Say Yes by Snow Patrol
Whatever. That’s what fragile jello eaters say. I’ve grabbed a calf by its hind end to knock it to the ground. I’ve carried bags of feed atop my shoulders. I think crying is for nonverbal babies.
Yet, all that doesn’t change that the air really is thinner at 15,200 feet.
Yet, apparently, that’s not even all that high. High.Enough.For.Me. Indeed.
This picture was taken while hiking the Salkantay trail in Peru with my two best friends. It was among the best times I’ve ever had in my life. I saw more beauty. Learned more about myself than ever (I’m pretty sure) before. Ate way good food and had an adventure of a lifetime (grilled guinea pig. slipping within inches of a cliff. being cut off a trail by a wild cow. unequivocal joy at the sight of a bathroom. fell in a river fed by a hugggggge waterfall).
More of that story to come with future pictures.
But at this moment that the picture was taken, I was thinking--- I’m going to die.
I am going to die. We got to Peru several days before we were actually supposed to set out on the five day trek “from snow to jungles.” And I thought it would be sooooo easy. Like, laughably easy. Like, “I’m probably going to miss my running trails in Texas” this is so easy.
Stupid.
It was hard. I couldn’t breathe. I got dizzy. I lost two toenails and gained blisters that stretched across the entire length of the pad of my foot. I lost 10 pounds.
Up. Up. Up. Up. Climb. Climb. Climb. Down. Down. Slide. Down. Slip. Down. I wanted it to be ovvvvvvvver… until I was so sad to find it was.
Do you ever do that, Kendra? Wish something was over to find that you were actually having a lot of fun. I had a lot of fun.
I had so much fun. Ah, I love fun! I love that it’ s a memory I’ll have forever. I love that I completed something that thought was impossible at one point.
I love that I can’t take credit for the physical fete… that we did it together. Encouraging each other. Supporting each other. Loving each other. J
Ah. Love.

Testing...Testing...1 - 2 - 3...is this thing on?
Alright. I'm tired. I've spent way to much time crying in frustration. My husband is in Florida, it's my first week back in a new job that's kicking my butt after 2 glorious weeks of vacation. I've been working 12 hours a day, and having work dreams wherein I send a necessary e-mail 4 hours after the deadline.
So, for the first time in 1001 Words history, we're trying something new. This week, January 4 - January 8 the photos I post will be from YOU. Comment with any sort of link to a photo you took, or one you love. A funny clip on the internet, or your favorite website from which I can glean pictoral representation. New video? Picture of your dog? Shameless self-promotion of your blog? Do it.
I don't care; send me something. 7 somethings, to be exact.
Please.
We will resume our regularly scheduled photographical broadcast this Saturday (a week from today). Can't wait to see what people have!

Happy New Year!
Hard to believe it was 2 years ago on this night that I was texting this man every minute in anticipation of meeting him the next day!
