Comfy
Keebler spends so much time under my desk when I work from home that I finally put a blanket there for him. At first he wasn't quite sure what to think about it...
Now he's just testing it's consistency.

Oops
These are actually over a month old...but at midnight one weekday night, we started hearing sirens. Then we saw the lights. Then we realized the house was on fire! Not ours...the people across the street (who we ended up meeting at the Quivas Cul de Sac Pot Luck). Turns out their breaker box exploded. The firemen had to come back out 3 times because the fire continued to burn in the siding but couldn't be seen. Craziest thing that's happened since someone crashed into our garage trying to get away from the cops (before we moved in). Always interesting at Quivas.

Random Find of the Day
And sometimes it occurs to me: "I live here."
Even in the not-so-great parts of town...it's kind of great.

Yeah. Still Here.
Somehow we survived this. Perhaps by yelling really loud and freaking people out in the airport. It's the Denver region's new thing. And I am GOOD at it.

Guess Where I Am
So, we had a cocktail reception around the pool. Which was nice. And I also got to see one of my favorite people in FoMoCo, which makes this the best trip ever. Janice MacRitchie is my hero.

1st Annual Quivas Cul de Sac Pot Luck
This's happening.
26 people later and, while exhausted, I feel the level of community on Quivas has reached a new level. And that level is: epic.

Life's Little Surprises
My mom sent me this from a pin I added as something I wanted to make. It came in perfect time as I'm prepping for a huge neighborhood pot luck. Love the timing. Thanks, Mims!

Mine
Peeta is the new Keebler.
And Maggie is channeling a total biotch. "What, this was your toy? This is me caring."

Balloon Kendra
I apparently made an impression on the girls yesterday...I received a text from Leslie with this photo and a message:
"Addy made a balloon figure of you in your honor. Please ignore that the balloon version of you looks to have a penis."
My response? After laughing out loud..."I appreciate her rendition of my short hair."

Joy
I met Leslie and her (and I guess now my) mutual friend Guy's two daughters at Color Me Mine in Boulder this afternoon. Emma, 11, and Addy, 7, were both very unsure of my addition to their afternoon outing. We painted our respective cups (over sized coffee mugs for Leslie and me, an "I Love Daddy" mug for Addy, and a wine goblet for Emma...), listened to Addy go through her repertoire of nursery school songs, repainted, talked, and then left for Boulder Cafe for treats...kids AND adults.
After a glass of wine and some really great queso, the conversation quickly turned to farts (the kids) and disbelief that Addy wasn't going to be paying for the meal (the adults). After a strange but fun afternoon wherein I realized it had been a long time since I was their age, we headed to our cars and on our separate ways.
Leslie picked Addy up and gave her a piggy back ride. A few steps out, and for the life of me I still can't figure out what made me do it, I turned to Emma and said "Look here, there is a one-time offer." I bent down so she could climb on my back and she did so with the biggest squeal of glee that I've ever heard. We were all four off, Leslie and I acting as pack animals and the girls giggling at both being carried down Pearl Street. Emma never stopped. And while Addy squeezed at Leslie's sides and squirmed, Emma was completely still on my back (besides vibrating from laughter), afraid I think that if she moved I'd put her back down. After two blocks we were all laughing, we just couldn't stop. People stared and we were breathless and I mentally thanked The Lord I'd worn my flats that day, and we laughed ourselves over ten blocks, almost falling into a heap.
"This...is...the...best...day...ever!!" Emma breathed through the gales of girly giggles into my ear.
And in my heart I meant it when I heaved, bouncing her up and down the sidewalk and trying to keep my voice from catching while my heart was pumping fast, "Yes. Yes it is."

"What I Kept!"
I went through my sweaters. That was freakin' EMBARASSING. I kept what I actually wore and was able to fit back in my sweater cases (I'd had a pile on the floor of one closet for a year). My friend Corrie took the massive bag, didn't judge, and instead sent me a photo of everything she wanted!
Made. My. Day.
