It's all fun and games until...
The bike ride(s) proved to be too much for several of Kona's pads (to Mom's utter dismay and guilt). But because he can't leave them alone, he has to wear the Cone of Shame. Le sigh.

Rollin' with the Homies
New treat!
We practiced quite a bit in a parking lot first...those turns'll get ya every time...
What a way to spend a three-day weekend! Keebler's tongue would agree.

Gone, Girl
We ended our evening at Secreto, our favorite lounge in downtown. The vibe that night was just not what we were looking for, so we only stayed for a drink. But the older couple next to us was from Colorado as well, and after a pleasant conversation, they ended up covering our tab as well. Further proof that each stage of life has it's little blessings...can't wait for that one, too.
The Pantry. Foregone conclusion.
Aaaaand one for free breakfast at Delectable Egg! ;-)

Windy City
Had to start the day at the Pantry.
View of the El Rey!
We spent a majority of the afternoon enjoying a fire in our room and reading, as it was incredibly beautiful outside - until you got outside. The wind was unbelievable. Made it absolutely miserable to walk from one place to the next. So we waited, and got dolled up!
Headed to a nice dinner in downtown, and actually utilized the mass transit system, which took us forever to figure out. I finally called and asked regarding the stops, and the gentleman informed me that there were stops all along Cerillos, including one just outside the Inn! But that only the largest 5 were shown on the transit map. Really?
Perhaps they want to keep this $2 gem a secret...no more! Seriously, you can't park downtown for that amount of money. It's a shame it doesn't run later.

On our way to Santa Fe!
We woke up at 4am to head south to Santa Fe in order to miss rush hour in both Denver and Colorado Springs. To reward ourselves for the epic feat that this was, we stopped in Springer, NM (finally!) at the Brown Hotel for breakfast. Springer is known for hosting a boys correctional facility. Just in case, you know, you wondered.
I was pretty happy after massive amounts of greasy pancakes, green chili on my eggs, and my Mike driving. |
After checking in early at The El Rey (apparently no one visits in mid-March, we kinda figured out why the next day - but I did finally fill out my Passport: FREE NIGHT!), our very first stop was Trader Joe's. I am, literally, counting down the days til we get one (approximately 103, depending on which day in August they actually open). We snagged some cheese, cranberry loaf, sea salt dark chocolate covered almonds (as incredible as they sound), massive quantities of wine (hence spending over an hour there), and a plate, knife, and candles at Dollar Tree.
Cause that's how we roll.
Finished off a lovely bright, crisp day at Tomasita's, and I'd say we found ourselves a small slice of heaven.

Welcome Home
I made a Welcome Home kit in a huge Ball jar that I found at a thrift store for $2.00. It had Mrs. Meyer's handsoap, a spoon holder, sponge, super glue, picture-hanging kit, dish rag, fold-up shopping tote, and a Sharpie, among other things. Saw this at Target.
Thrift store FTW.

Epic Girls Night
Survival Kits:
Started with pedis!
Pre-Leslie doing our incredible makeup.
Leslie's arsenal of awesomeness.
"The Usual Suspects". At The Curtis!
It began with tons of free food and champagne thanks to a friend of Corrie's at The Corner Office. The food just kept coming!
Leslie did an unbelievable job - we all felt lovely!
We love lamp.
It went uphill after dinner (if that were possible).
